How I can help
Virtual and telephonic counselling services
Sometimes accessing therapy is challenging in itself. Whether you are a busy professional who is always on the go, or travelling to different cities; I can provide you with the convenience of accessing counselling wherever you may be, and regardless of your location.
Virtual and telephonic counselling services are also a good option for the busy work-from-home professional or stay-at-home mom, who may have difficulty finding childcare, or feels like there is not enough time in the day. There are also those who might be struggling with mobility issues or live in remote isolated communities with little access to mental health services. Virtual and telephonic counselling services can be accessed from the comfort of your home and is only a phone call away.
Anxiety, Depression & Stress-related issues
Many people today are finding it difficult to manage their daily responsibilities. Life can become overwhelming with trying to balance work demands, home and family life.
These heavy demands on people overtime can begin to affect their quality of life and leave them feeling tired with little energy to do the things that they used to enjoy. Eventually this can lead to depression, anxiety, stress and burnout.
Whether it is relationship difficulties, work issues, family problems or lack of fulfillment counselling can help to improve your mood so that you can begin to feel a greater sense of meaning and purpose in your life once again.
Unhealthy Relationships & Emotional Abuse
Unhealthy relationships can have a damaging effect on your overall health and well-being. This can lead to the decline in a person’s self-esteem leaving them with feelings of unhappiness, self-doubt and confusion about the world around them.
Negative relationships can impact your daily life which can cause difficulties with sleep, appetite, memory, concentration and the desire to socialize with friends and family. Anxiety, depression and other mental health issues can occur when stressful, unhealthy and emotionally abusive relationships persist over a long period of time.
Counselling can teach you about setting healthy boundaries through assertiveness training so that you can gain the confidence that you need to take control over your life.
Self-Esteem, Self-Worth and Self-Confidence
Many of my clients have faced issues in their life that has left them with feelings of low self-esteem, low-self worth and low self-confidence. When people experience rejection in some way it can have a detrimental effect on the way that they view themselves.
Whether it’s through a personal encounter or a work-related situation feeling good about your self is essential to developing positive relationships and enhancing one’s sense of belonging.
Counselling can help you to recognize how negative thinking impacts the way that you see yourself so that you can begin to make positive changes through increased self-awareness and other therapeutic tools.
Grief and Loss
Unfortunately grief and loss is something that will be experienced by everyone at some point in their lives however this does not mean that everyone will grieve in the same way.
People who have experienced loss will go through their own unique grieving process and they may experience all of the stages of grief or only a few; either way it is a very personal journey that is yours alone.
Therapy can assist you in working through this difficult and stressful time in a safe and supportive environment that recognizes the many different types of life losses whether it is the loss of a pet, job, friendship or loved one.
Couples and Marriage Counselling
Intimate relationships can be full of emotional ups and downs which can become complicated to work through when life circumstances and responsibilities get in the way of connecting with your partner.
Couples might also find themselves struggling to communicate in healthy and constructive ways that can often lead to disagreements or arguments leaving one or both of you confused, upset or hurt in some way.
Working with a therapist can help you to recognize unhealthy communication patterns and behaviours that interfere with you and your partner’s ability to enjoy the closeness and intimacy that all couples deserve.
Trauma and Post-traumatic Stress Disorder
Through my years of practice I have gained thorough training treating people who have suffered trauma and the debilitating effects that trauma can have on a person’s mental health.
You may struggle with overwhelming feelings of anger and sadness or you may feel a sense of numbness that leaves you wanting to withdraw and isolate yourself from the things that you once felt connected to.
Using specific therapeutic techniques such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Mindfulness therapy can help you to better regulate your emotions and reduce stress so that you can begin to feel more present in the moment and begin working towards finding meaning and purpose in your life once again.
Brain Injury
I have extensive training treating people who have endured traumatic brain injury (TBI) working specifically with populations who have suffered trauma and brain injury following motor vehicle accidents. Whether your accident is seemingly big or small the impact that it can have on a person’s life can feel overwhelming and be life changing.
Counselling can help to address cognitive difficulties, personality and mood changes and can assist you in improving any struggles that you may be having with planning and organizing daily tasks that were once completed with ease.
Brain Injury can also be coupled with anxiety disorders and depression which can be treated simultaneously through your recovery.
